Julia Bradbury
One of television’s most experienced and versatile presenters, Julia Bradbury has joined CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire as Branch President. Best known as co-presenter of BBC 1’s Watchdog, Julia may be most familiar to members and friends from the acclaimed BBC series Wainwright Walks, following the routes of the Lake District’s most-famed fell walker. Julia’s affection for the countryside was actually borne in the Peak District where her father Michael introduced her to the joys of walking.
The countryside played a huge part in my growing up and I hope I can help encourage more people to get out there and enjoy it, experience how beautiful it is and support the Branch ’s work to help make sure it remains so for the future, said Julia.
Jack Burling
Walker with wide interests in the protection of and access to the countryside. Was Area Footpath Secretary of the Ramblers' Association, South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire Area for 25 years. Now Vice President. Former Chairman of the 'Sheffield Campaign for Access to the Moorlands'. Member of the Open Spaces Society - Executive Committee. Member of this Branch since 1968, Chairman of the branch May 1999 to 2002. Honorary Vice President of the Branch since 2002.
Anne Robinson
Campaigner for National Parks and the Countryside and has been with the Branch since 1995. Currently Vice Chair of CPRE National Organisation and a Trustee of the Campaign for National Parks. Chair of CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire from 2002-2007.
Professor John Tarn
Former Chair in Architecture and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Liverpool University, recipient of numerous academic honours plus an OBE for his services to architecture. Connected to many influential bodies on Merseyside and is currently president of the Wirral Society, CPRE's representative group on the Wirral. Has strong links with South Yorkshire and the Peak District having lectured at the University of Sheffield and having also served as Vice Chair of the Peak District National Parks Authority from 1981 - 86 and Chair of the Planning Control Committee from 1979 - 1997. |
