Conservation Volunteering
Come rain or shine, it seems that there are plenty of people out there who are keen to put something back into the landscapes they love, if the efforts of the Friends of the Peak District Conservation Team is anything to go by.
Willing to turn their hands to anything, from hedge-laying to ditch-digging and from dry stone walling to foot path repair, the Friends’ Conservation Team brings together volunteers from across the National Park to support the practical work of the Peak Park Ranger Service and the National Trust Conservation Team. See below for forthcoming conservation events.

Below right: Tom helps to clear Rhododendrun and Ash from around Howden and Derwent Reservoirs, volunteers pack up the tools at the end of a busy weekend at Meerbrook and, despite the rain, volunteers clear a footpath near Rowsley.

As Friends of the National Park, we can offer valuable time and helping hands to put something positive back into the landscapes we love, explains Scheme Co-ordinator Clare Kelly (pictured left). Joining the Friends' Conservation Team is an opportunity to really enjoy the environment, gain great practical experience and meet many other like-minded people. A leaflet is available online. Please select either PDF Document format or Text Document format.
