FAVOURITE PLACES IN THE PEAK DISTRICT

During summer 2007 Friends of the Peak District surveyed visitors to local shows and the Friends of the Peak District website on what were their favourite places in the National Park. A very subjective choice but useful to FPD in helping discover the variety of areas close to the hearts of local people and visitors alike.

Most often cited as their favourite was Castleton with its intriguing caverns and foreboding, medieval castle followed in popularity by bustling Bakewell then picturesque Ashford-in-the-Water, dramatic Curbar Edge and the imposing Kinder Scout.

Chosen randomly from hundreds of participants was Gary from Chapel-en-le-Frith who took part at the Hope Show and wins a £50 meal voucher for dinner-for-two at the Yorkshire Bridge Inn, Bamford. We hope he enjoys his evening and thank you to everyone who participated.
