DON’T DELAY - ENTER COUNTRYSIDE AWARDS TODAY

Friends of the Peak District is encouraging community groups, businesses and individuals to submit their entries for the 2007 Countryside Awards before the 31st May closing date.

Celebrating the best in rural design, the Countryside Awards scheme is a free, prestigious and easy to enter award scheme for buildings, landscapes and projects that promote access and enjoyment of the countryside.

Our victories in campaigning to protect the Peak District countryside are often those that go unseen, says Director Dot McGahan. The Countryside Awards are therefore a superb opportunity to reward the efforts of those working to help others enjoy and appreciate our beautiful landscapes. Submitting an entry is very straightforward and we hope that many people will take this opportunity to take part in this special showcase of design excellence.

Previous winners included:

  • An interactive, educational outdoor “classroom”.
  • Restoration of a derelict farmhouse into a multi-purpose workspace.
  • Conversion of listed farm buildings into residential accommodation.
  • Set of collectable walk leaflets encouraging people to explore their local countryside on foot.

The closing date for applications is May 31st 2007. Contact CPRE on 0114 266 5822 or email lindsay@friendsofthepeak.org.uk to request an application pack. For more information visit the Countryside Awards page.
