NATIONAL PARK CHARITY WELCOMES FIRST BUSINESS FRIEND ON BOARD
Encouraging local business to value their outstanding surroundings and invest in the protection and enhancement of the landscape, is the aim of a new Corporate membership scheme launched by National Park Society Friends of the Peak District.
Long established family-firm, Chesterfield Steels Group, has been announced as FPD’s first Corporate Partner and the business is looking forward to building better corporate and environmental relations in the Peak District.
Chesterfield Steels Group is a privately owned group of companies consisting of Chesterfield Special Steels and Chesterfield Steel Services. The supplier of choice to some of the world’s most demanding markets with offices and warehousing facilities both in the UK and Singapore, Chesterfield Special Steels have long been a core supplier to the traditional forging and engineering industry, forging quality carbon, alloy and stainless steels.
As we are, by necessity, supplied with material by a traditionally heavy industry, we were aware of the impact on the environment in its production, explains Chesterfield Steels Group Marketing Executive Adrian Cole. Wishing to give something back, there was an advantageous synergy to be gained by working with Friends of the Peak District; not only would we help to maintain this beautiful countryside on our doorstep, but also ensuring its well-being for the enjoyment of our employees.
FPD’s Corporate Scheme promotes local environmentally friendly and landscape conscious businesses in and around the Peak District and engages such companies in it’s work to protect and appreciate the valuable landscapes of Britain’s’ oldest National Park.
The wonderful scenery of the Peak District is a valuable economic asset to local business and by working together we can ensure that this resource is protected and sustainable managed for the future, explains FPD Fundraiser Lucy Stirling. Chesterfield Steels for example are very interested in our project, with the Peak District National Park Authority, investigating the potential for hydro electric power generation in the Peak District and this valuable support will enable us to take this exciting project to the next stage.
