NEW FACE AT THE HELM OF LEADING COUNTRYSIDE GROUP

New Chief Executive Carol Robinson has this week taken up the reins at the region’s leading countryside protection group the Campaign to Protect Rural England Peak District and South Yorkshire.

Carol joins the small but effective team at the charity’s base in Broomhill, Sheffield. She will lead the organisation’s two brands, Friends of the Peak District and CPRE South Yorkshire, in their work to protect the area’s valuable landscapes, engage with rural communities and undertake initiatives to enhance the rural environment.

The daughter of tenant farmers on the Chatsworth Estate, Carol grew up in the village of Beeley where her family has long connections. Since completing a degree in Modern History at Oxford University, she has worked mostly in the voluntary sector, most recently as Director of York Nightstop Charity, working with young people experiencing homelessness in York and North Yorkshire.

Carol, who enjoys walking, is pleased to be moving back near to the Peak District and to have the chance to explore South Yorkshire more. The countryside is very important to me and I am pleased to be working to help protect and enhance it for everyone to enjoy, explains Carol. I hope to encourage more people who care about its future to support our important work.

Carol is supported by new Chair of Trustees, George Wolfe, a long-standing volunteer and trustee at the organisation. George, from Calver in the Hope Valley, is a former solicitor for the Peak District National Park Authority.
