Dambusters Challenge Walk
Peak Walking Adventures are organising this fully guided fundraising walk in aid of Friends of the Peak District over some of the most stunning hills and moorlands that the Peak District has to offer.
With a registration fee of just £20 per person, you are kindly asked to pledge to raise a minimum of an additional £50 in fundraising.
All of the proceeds including the registration fee will go to the Friends of the Peak District.
The walk passes over the hills on both sides of Ladybower, Derwent and Howden Reservoirs and takes its name from the Dambusters connection with those reservoirs. It was here that World War 2 pilots practiced their bouncing bomb technique before the famous ‘Dambusters’ raids on the Ruhr Valley in Germany.
It is a superb walk of about 21 miles with approx. 1,200 metres of ascent spread out throughout the day. It isn’t only the distance and ascent that makes this a tough walk however, as some of the terrain is extremely rough and boggy in places making it an exciting challenge for anyone who has a good level of fitness.
Participants will be rewarded with some of the best views of remote hills and moorland that can be found anywhere in the Peak District. The route gets right off the beaten track in places, taking you through countryside that you may have never explored before. A friendly, professional guide will be with you every step of the way to not only keep you on the right track, but also to share some of their local knowledge with you. We will be working on a ratio of one guide to every 10 participants and the whole event will be overseen personally by Cath Lee, owner of Peak Walking Adventures.
It is essential that you are physically fit and have good outdoor clothing including comfortable, well worn in walking boots if you sign up for this walk.
Booking are now being taken, so please sign up quickly to be sure of your place on this wonderful walk, as places are limited to just 20 people. Click here to make your booking now!
Cath Lee of Peak Walking Adventures would be delighted to hear from you if you have any questions or concerns about the walk. She can be contacted on 07870 778585 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
