Join in an historic event in the Peak District as we celebrate 70 years since the 1949 Act of Parliament was passed which established the family of National Parks in England and Wales that we know and love.

The Act was the result of decades of dedicated struggle including mass protests and political lobbying, including the notable efforts of Ethel and Gerald Haythornthwaite. It means that today the most beautiful countryside in England and Wales has the strongest levels of protection.

On Friday 22nd of March, from 10am til 3pm, the Campaign for National Parks (including the Friends of the Peak District), the Youth Hostel Association and others will be marking this incredible achievement with a special 70th anniversary walk at Castleton in the Peak District. And you are warmly invited to come along!
