Magnificent Walk 2019
April 13 @ 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
Our annual Magnificent Walk will start and finish at Tegg’s Nose Country Park on Saturday 13th April and explore some of the finest walking in Cheshire with stunning views! Enjoy this friendly, well-managed, way-marked annual event and support a great cause which protects the Peak District national park for us all to enjoy.
This year’s magnificent walk, is a wonderful exploration of Macclesfield forest, and the surrounding hills and valleys of east Cheshire (while also touching on Staffordshire and Derbyshire). It starts a Teggs Nose country park, from which viewpoint much of the walk can be seen. We explore the forest, parts of the Gritstone Way, Wincle Minn, round to the north edge of the Roaches, and deep into Lud’s Church. We visit the Three Shires Head and Panniers Pool, on an old pack horse route, and climb Shutlingsloe (the Matterhorn of Cheshire!), before dropping back into the Forest for the return to Teggs Nose. It is a route full of photo opportunities, indeed you could probably create a whole calendar of your own pictures.
The walk is 34.2 km long, which is just over 21 miles, and involves over 1600 meters of ascent, but we will have a number of marshal checkpoints to help you on your way. Navigation is straightforward, on paths and tracks, and will be a very memorable day.
If this walk is a little too much, there is a 12 mile version, which takes in much of the route, and will give a memorable walk on its own.
We will provide water stations (and flapjack!) along the route.
