Arguably the only true ‘peaks’ in The Peak District, Parkhouse Hill and Chrome Hill tower above the gathering waters of the River Dove. Don’t be fooled by their lush grassy slopes – this is a resurrected prehistoric seafloor of coral reefs. Striking out from Earl Sterndale, we’ll take in the view over the Dove Valley then head over the tops, or around their fossil-littered flanks. We’ll return to Earl Sterndale along quiet lanes and beautiful dales for a pint in The Quiet Woman.
